Arsenal are weighing up a £53 million move for wantaway striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang ahead of a potential winter move this month.
With Alexis Sanchez heading to Manchester United, a replacement is needed and the Gunners have reportedly earmarked the Gabonese hitman as the perfect replacement for the Chilean striker.
Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat who engineered Aubameyang’s move to Dortmund in 2013 is believed to be the man behind the Gunners move for the Borussia Dortmund striker.
Although, Arsene Wenger is not really a big fan of the Gabonese due to his off-field antics but Sven Mislintat believes the 28-year- old could change when he moves to the Emirates.
It is understood that the Bundesliga giants are tired of Aubameyang’s attitude and could be open to selling him this month should they receive a tempting offer in the excess of £53 million for the former AC Milan forward.
Dortmund’s general manager voiced out his frustration on the attacker’s behavior after he was recently left out of the draw with Wolfsburg last weekend after missing a team meeting.
Speaking on Aubameyang, he said:
“What is going on now is not to be tolerated by the club. It is clear: it cannot go on like this. I don’t know what is going through his mind. I don’t recognise him anymore. There is trouble in the team and that is not good.”
Despite having question marks over his attitude, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has grown into one of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe and would be a suitable replacement for Chilean forward, Alexis Sanchez.
Arsenal signing Aubameyang will be a statement signing to their rivals and will lift the current gloom surrounding the Emirates.
However, with the Gunners closing in a move for out-of- favor Manchester United playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan who is reportedly set to be included in a swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez, the former Saint Etienne man could reunite with his former Borussia Dortmund team-mate at the Emirates.
Aubameyang is often regarded as a fox in the box given his knack for scoring goals on a regular basis and he is known for his pace, finishing, link-up play, excellent heading abilities, dribbling, versatility and positioning.
